This is the end of another year, and the happiest time for the people all over the world. The Christmas is not just a religious celebration, it is the time when people forget their religion, cast, and creed. It is the time, when people forget their economic or social status and embrace even the poorest of the poor with love and affection. It is the time when people spread the essence of eternal brotherhood.

Christmas is the Time of Merry Making:
Christmas brings long vacation for the students and professionals. Younger generation enjoys the vacation to the fullest. It is the time when they get some relief from their regular studies and classes.

25th December is celebrated as the birthday of Jesus Christ. It is the most auspicious day for the christens. But it is a day of jollification and joy even for the non-Christians. On this occasion, every Tom, Dick, and Harry wishes ‘Merry Christmas‘ to each other. Special Christmas Carols are sung in all churches and convents.

Christmas Tree:
It is the time of the year when the Christians plant Christmas trees in their houses.  They cut a healthy branch of a tree and then plant it in one corner of the garden or house. The tree is decorated nicely with colorful lamps and flowers. At night, the Christmas tree looks very bright and beautiful. The family members of the house sit together around the tree and sing prayers in praise of Jesus Christ.

The History of Christmas Day:
The word “Christmas” comes from the ancient English words “Cristesmaesse“, which means the mass of Christ. Experts opine that the Christmas date of December 25 was chosen to offset the Pagan celebrations of Saturnalia and NatalisInvicti. Western Christians were the first people to celebrate 25th December as the Christmas day in the year 336, after the famous Emperor Constantine had declared Christianity the empire’s ideal religion. At that time, the Eastern churches, celebrated 6th January as the birthday and his baptism. Easterners later adopted 25th December as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
