Having a scientific temperament is quite good. You can observe various things happening around you in a scientific manner which others won’t even notice. You are a scientist in yourself if you observe things with keenness. Anything which is happening around you is science. Science has three main branches of physical science, abstract science, and life science. These three contribute each other in various phenomena miraculously, without even your knowledge. One who discovers these phenomena is called a scientist. Every scientist has to toil a lot to discover a theory or invent a thing. Not every theory is right in the first instance. It has to go through various trial and error experimentation and calculations to reach a final conclusion. Sometimes the scientists have to wait for years to come to a final answer. Some theories go wrong even after putting in so many efforts.

Many of us when come to discover a scientific breakthrough, want to store the memory of the moment in the form of either a video or a photograph. Sometimes we see something through the eyes of science and capture it as a photograph. Manchester and District branch of Institute of Physics organized a photography competition as a part of Manchester Science Festival. They invited entries of science photographs which will later be open to the public in the form of a mini-exhibition. The topic for which the entries were invited was ‘Physics Pics’. Two of the most engrossing entries were: 1) The greatest wrong theories and 2) The hole in Hedwin’s game. I like to highlight the two to some extent.

  • The Greatest Wrong Theories: The Standard Model is the theory describing three of the four fundamental forces in the universe (the electromagnetic, weak, and strong interactions) and the classification of all known elementary particles. It added some more particles to the elementary particles like electrons, protons, and neutrons. The particles added are quarks, top quarks, tau neutrinos and the Higgs Boson. Physicist Chad Orzel wrote that the Standard Model is the greatest wrong theory in physics. His ‘wrong’ does not mean ‘incorrect’ but ‘incomplete’. The model has been wrong for many years but has been phenomenally successful. The theory was regarded as ‘the theory of everything’. It works really well for what it has been formulated for. But it has theoretical loopholes or gaps. It is known that neutrinos have mass but the theory can’t explain how the masses were calculated. It also can’t explain why the visible universe contains only matter and not the antimatter.
  • The Hole In Hedwin’s Game: Adam Hedwin, a Canadian professional golfer, was too childish in the concluding parts of the game. He never put a golf ball in the last few meters perfectly. He got considerably better with the help of physics. He took help from a computer software employing physics and joined to high-speed cameras. The software took help of the videos and photographs of Hedwin’s play from the camera and analyzed them from the point of view of physics. A careful analysis of first half-meter of Hedwin’s putts led to dramatic improvement in his game. The analysis showed him how to control the bounce and backspin of the ball which is the real secret of his improvement.

The photo competition was a part of science festival held every year in Manchester. This is done to popularize science in common masses. BookMyEssay aims at promoting science by highlighting these kinds of events. Our expert writers write blogs, articles and press releases for the promotion of science and science-related phenomena. However, the physics assignment help can also assist you amazingly.
