Text extraction from images is a technique in which images are first cleaned using image processing and then OCR is applied to read the text out of it. It can be done with and without applying deep learning. It has many applications like storing the data from image in database without actually typing it, extract the text from image and send it to any search engine to do any explorations etc.

Project – To extract retailer name and total amount from invoices.

Input – Image of invoice, coordinates of any single point from retailer name area and total amount area.

Output – Return retailer name and amount in text format.

Technologies Used – Python, regex, OpenCV,Pytesseract OCR engine.

 

Project – To extract employee information from ID cards.

Input – Image of employee ID cards

Output – Employee Name and ID in string format

Technologies Used – Python, OpenCV, Deep Learning, YOLO object detection, Pytesseract OCR engine.
