Introduction
A survey was conducted on the various factors of the Maylands Peninsula; it is a city on the river bank near Perth in Australia. It includes different aspects from people to different environmental conditions of the state. The survey answers the questionnaires related to various aspects of the people related to their gender, daily habits, age group, and their likes and dislikes. The study of the report with the help of the relevant data helps to divide the various sections of the people. This report can be beneficial in many of the research work related to the study and planning of various projects in the city.
Background
Over the years with the introduction of many technological changes and an increase in the population of the city, there has been a change in the style of living of the people. Like the population, the land space for each human being decreased and people changed their habits and behavior of living. It is necessary for the government to analyze the changing needs of the city. Based on this study the developmental works of the city is being conducted for transportation, employment, public restroom, and tourism services. The data thus should need to be collected with maximum accuracy to meet the demands of the present city keeping in mind the future needs.
Analysis
Demographic Profile
The survey was conducted on peoples on the demographic result. It was conducted on 148 peoples, based on the survey conducted a crosstab has been created to identify the rate of interest of several famous places of Maylands peninsula among various age groups.
The Maylands Waterland has not so famous among any age group. The 20-29 age group people have only one person to like the Maylands Waterland. The 30-39 age group people have only three people. The 40-49, 50-59 and 70+ age group has no person.
The 60-69 age groups have two people to like it. Mayland’s foreshore reserve has created some fantasy among all age groups except 70+ which has zero impact. From the above data, we can say that it has created some popularity among all. The 40-49 age groups have great popularity in it. From the above table data, it is clear that the Clarkson reserve is not famous and not creates any impact.
Mayland’s tennis club, this is also not so popular among all the age groups (Cunningham & Nazdrowicz, N. H.Eds (2018). The sports club has not created so much impact. Tranby (Peninsula Farm) has gained some popularity among some age groups. The 30 to 39 age group has a maximum number of persons, interested in Tranby (peninsula). Lake Brearley Reserve has good data than others. It has a fan base among the 60 to 69 age group. The old age group of 70 plus age has not so much interest in it. Both the lakes (Lake Brearley Reserve and Lake Bungana Reserve) have somewhat equal popularity. This sector can be increased by adding more benches and cafeteria surrounding lakes. Copley Park has no impact on any age group. Some people of 20 to 29 and 40 to 49 age group have little interest (we can see from above crosstab table). Maylands peninsula golf course has some interest in golf players. Due to its sports background, it has gained popularity among the middle-aged group and some interest in the young age group (DiPaolo, 2017).
Berringa Park is among the park of Copley which has not so much popularity and needs to focus more on developing its areas. The park is the place where people usually love to hang out and spend some quality time with nature. Park should have more of nature’s lover art and colors to attract persons of all age groups. From the above crosstab data, we can have a clear idea that it is not gaining fantasy. Bath street reserve has a poor impact on the scenario and does not attract much of the population of middle and old age groups (Kidron, 2016). 20 to 29 and 30 to 39 have some lovers of it (not so much). Tranby reserve has shown great impact and has attracted most of the people of all age groups. However, it has no member in the old age group of 70 plus. Maylands parkrun has gained its popularity among all age groups. We can clearly see from the above cross tab data, it has created popularity among the 30 to 39 age group (mpps.wa.edu.au, 2015). Environmental Values
The city on the basis of the environmental concern has done great over the years and is constantly trying to improve in this field. The people of the Maylands Peninsula have different views over the environmental degradation and improvement of the city. A survey based on the environmental changes was carried out based on interviews and surveys of the people man to man (Mugume, 2017). The results found from the survey were kind of mixed views and opinions. The questions raised in the survey related to the topic of agreement and disagreement of the environmental values. The frequency of the people agreeing to the change was more. They agreed that the prior steps towards the environment have been taken and effectively worked towards the improvement of nature (Ollikainen et al. 2019).
However, there is some section of the society that disagreed with the fact that no steps have been taken effectively by the authority to improve the environmental concerns to uplift the life of the people. They even argued over the fact that health concerns have increased over the past few years in the city. The survey emphasized more on the ecological development of the city. With the explosion of the population of the city the land area of the city has significantly decreased to a level and had been a real headache for the local government to maintain a balance between the needs of the people and environmental degradation. The increasing needs of the people put a great effect on the ecology of the city. The majority of the people have disagreed with the fact that the government has improved the ecology. The number of playgrounds and parks in the city has remained constant over the past years and only repairing work is conducted from time to time.
The developmental works in the city have though increased significantly more for the sake of the environment than the proper environmental planning. The road, railways, and subways have developed in the area in the past decades. But the growth of the ecological environmental parks like jogging parks, children’s playgrounds and environmental have not grown at the same pace. Hence it is a significant fact that the environmentally has degraded in the area and a lot of people have viewed their concern over this fact (marylandnature.org, 2014). [Referred to Appendix 2]
Multivariate Analysis
The analysis is done on the basis of the crosstabs and the tables of correlation done in SPSS. The survey was done where many questions related to the demographic profile were done. Each of the questions was interviewed where tourism, as well as heritage, was also considered. The data were analyzed in a proper manner where the data from the crosstabs provide the perfect result. The quality of the water coming from different sources is always preferred in a better manner. There are many people who want to catch a sight where the sights are getting developed from time to time (Vijayan, 2015).
The overall heritage is very important to them as it is very important to take proper care of it. Still, most of the people who were surveyed had received the details that they do not want to care less about the overall welfare of society. They want it to be improved but not on the cost of any animal life or plant life. They are strict against deforestation and they want to improve society by keeping it as clean as possible. Most of them do not want to utilize their car as it affects the environment and finally goes on to affect the demographic situation. The people who stay here want a clean environment and pollution-free. Many people out of the surveyed people want to preserve their cultural heritage and they also go onto save water or conserve it so that there is no scarcity of water for the future generation. The respondents were not biased and based upon the crosstabs and the correlation table this portion of the analysis is done (Warner Warner & MLC 2016). [Referred to Appendix 3]
Conclusion
The study of the survey on various aspects of the city from the environment to demography was analyzed based on the survey and interview of the people of the Maylands Peninsula. The various sections of the society were asked questions regarding the ecological development and the proceedings of the local authority towards the city. The results were somehow can be said mixed but unsatisfactory. The declining water quality and the scarcity of water is a concern for the people. The developmental projects have undergone at a very rapid pace but the declining environmental quality is concerned with the majority of the citizens of the city. Therefore, from the study, it can be stated that the local body on the ground level needs to put on more effort to save the environment with a proper balance with the people and the development.
